1. Who we are

Archivr is a mobile app for packing, unpacking, and password-protecting archives (ZIP, 7z, TAR, TAR.GZ, RAR-read). Archive processing runs locally on your device; Archivr does not upload files or archive passwords to process them. Files or support information may leave your device when you choose to export, share or send them. Archive passwords are used in transient memory and are not saved in app preferences or operation history.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Archivr processes, how, why, and what rights you have.

2. Plain-language summary

Archive processing runs on your device. Archivr does not upload your files or archive passwords for processing; you control any export or sharing through the system picker. We use Unity Ads for advertising, Sentry for crash reporting, Apple / Google billing for purchases, and Cloudflare for app announcements. Push delivery also uses Expo and Apple / Google notification services. Archive passwords are not saved in app preferences or operation history. Your data-protection rights, including access, deletion and portability where applicable, are described below.

3. Data we process

3.1 Data stored on your device

The app stores locally on your device:

• user preferences (theme, language, default formats),
• onboarding completion flag,
• a short history of recent operations (up to 50 entries) as metadata: archive file name, format, size, operation date, whether the operation used a password (yes/no). The history contains no passwords and no file content. You can erase entries in the History screen.

The operation-history database is not uploaded. Some technical attributes, such as language and Premium status, are also transmitted for the purposes described below. The app also stores purchase entitlement status locally and an installation credential in the operating system's secure storage to authorize announcement requests. This credential is separate from archive passwords.

3.2 Diagnostic data (Sentry)

Archivr integrates Sentry (sentry.io) for crash and error reporting. Sentry collects:

• error stack traces (crash logs),
• device info (model, OS version, locale),
• app version and build number.

Archivr filters file paths, archive-password fields and free-form diagnostic messages in its reporting pipeline, and does not attach archive contents. Sentry still processes technical device and crash metadata, which may include a device identifier. These safeguards do not make diagnostic data anonymous. Diagnostic events are kept according to the Sentry project retention settings, then removed by the service. Contact us about the retention applicable to your report.

3.3 Advertising (Unity Ads)

Archivr shows non-invasive ads on Home, Result and Settings (banner) plus interstitial after pack/unpack operations. Ads are delivered by Unity Ads, whose SDK collects:

• device and SDK user identifiers, including the advertising identifier where permitted;
• country-level location, purchase tendencies, app and ad interactions, and usage signals;
• SDK performance and device properties such as language, model and connection type.

Unity uses these data to deliver and measure advertising, perform analytics, operate its service and prevent abuse. With the required consent, advertising data can be linked across apps and services for personalization and measurement. See Unity's app-user privacy policy. Choosing limited ads does not mean the SDK stops all technical data processing.

Default mode is non-personalized ads. On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asks for your consent before any tracking-grade identifier is used; on Android you control the Advertising ID under system Settings. Lifetime disables ads permanently; an annual Premium subscription disables them while the entitlement is active.

3.4 In-app purchases (IAP)

Archivr offers paid features through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) and Google Play Billing (Android). When you make a purchase:

• Apple / Google process payment and account information; Archivr does not ask you to enter card details;
• the app uses purchase information returned by Apple / Google to determine entitlement and stores the entitlement tier and expiry date locally;
• restore purchases re-fetches your existing entitlements from Apple / Google.

Available products: lifetime unlock, premium annual subscription, optional tip jar.

3.5 System permissions and pickers

You select archive inputs and export destinations through system file pickers. A picker grants access to the selected files or directory; it is not a request to upload your files. If notifications are enabled, they can deliver app announcements. On iOS, ATT controls tracking permission for advertising. Haptic feedback can be switched off in Settings. Archivr does not request access to your contacts, microphone or precise location.

3.6 Contact support

If you choose to send a support email, we receive your sender address, message and the technical details shown in the preview, including the installation identifier. We use them to respond and diagnose your report, not for advertising. Opening the contact screen or copying the address does not send an email.

3.7 Data outside our collection

• No user account or sign-in is required. We do not request a telephone number or postal address.
• Contacts list, calendar, SMS, call logs.
• Precise location.
• Browsing history outside the app.
• Biometric data.
• Health data and payment card details. Purchase entitlements and the advertising data described above are separate.

4. Why we process this data (purposes)

• Run the app on your device — local storage and (where present) encryption let your data persist between sessions.
• Improve stability — Sentry diagnostics help fix crashes that affect your usage.
• Sustain the free tier — Unity Ads delivers non-invasive ads to fund users who do not buy premium.
• Provide announcements and support — technical installation data enable app notices, optional push delivery and responses to support requests.
• Process purchases — Apple / Google billing fulfils premium entitlements you choose to buy.

5. Legal basis (GDPR Article 6)

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland:

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — running the app, processing your purchases.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — Sentry diagnostics, app announcements, support, fraud / abuse prevention and non-personalized advertising, subject to any separate consent required by law. Our interest is improving stability and sustaining the free tier; this does not override your fundamental rights.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — personalized advertising, where you grant consent via the ATT prompt (iOS) or in-app preference. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — only when we must respond to a lawful request from authorities.

6. Recipients (with whom we share data)

We do not sell personal data. The categories of recipients are limited to providers strictly required to run the app:

Cloudflare processes these technical data on our behalf to provide app announcements and push notifications. Requests may also contain dismissed announcement identifiers and an installation credential used only to authorize that installation. Cloudflare operates a global network; processing may take place outside the EEA, including in the United States. International transfers are governed by the Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum. We have not configured an EU-only processing region. Push delivery also uses Expo and the operating system notification service.

We may disclose data if required by a valid court order or other binding legal process, after verifying the request and notifying you where lawful.

7. International transfers

Some of the recipients above are located outside the European Economic Area (mainly in the United States). Where transfers occur, they are protected by:

• the European Commission's adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) for providers certified under the Framework, including Google LLC;
• Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as adopted by the European Commission, supplemented by additional safeguards where applicable;
• the recipients' own published transfer mechanisms (e.g. Apple's binding corporate privacy commitments).

9. Your rights (GDPR Art. 15–22)

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15) — confirmation whether we process your data and a copy of it. Most of your data is already on your device; export from the app or write to us for the rest.
• Right to rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate data. Edit data directly in the app.
• Right to erasure / "right to be forgotten" (Art. 17) — clear operation history in the History screen, remove files through the system file manager, and contact us to request deletion of data held by us or our providers. Uninstalling does not delete files you exported or remote records.
• Right to restrict processing (Art. 18) — request a temporary halt; write to us.
• Right to data portability (Art. 20) — contact us to request a copy of personal data we hold, where the right applies. Archive files can be saved or shared through the system file picker.
• Right to object (Art. 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interest, especially profiling-style ads. Disable personalized ads in app settings or via system controls.
• Right not to be subject to automated decisions (Art. 22) — Archivr does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effect about you.

To exercise any right, write to mail@macsiem.dev. We respond within one month. Where the complexity or number of requests requires it, this may be extended by two further months; we will explain the extension within the first month.

10. Right to lodge a complaint (GDPR Art. 77)

If you believe we are processing your data unlawfully, you may file a complaint with a supervisory authority. For Polish residents:

You may also file a complaint with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement in another EEA country.

11. Children's privacy

Archivr is a general-purpose utility and is not designed specifically for children. If you believe a child's personal data has been processed without consent required by applicable law, contact mail@macsiem.dev so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

12. Security

• Local-only operations — pack, unpack, add password and remove password operations run on the device, using memory and temporary or output files.
• Archive passwords — passwords are used in transient memory while you enter them and perform an operation. Archivr does not save them in preferences, secure storage or operation history, and filters password fields from diagnostic reports.
• Transport security — app network communications for ads, purchases, Sentry diagnostics and Cloudflare announcements use HTTPS.
• Minimization — we collect only what is required for the listed purposes.

No system is 100% secure; please keep your device updated and use strong device locks.

13. App Tracking Transparency (iOS) and Advertising ID

On iOS, before any tracking-grade identifier is used by Unity Ads, Archivr shows the system App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, Archivr serves only non-personalized ads.

On Android, you can reset or limit your Advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads. Choosing "Delete advertising ID" removes that advertising identifier. It does not stop all SDK identifiers or technical data processing; limited ads may still be shown.

14. In-app purchases

Archivr offers the following in-app products through Apple App Store and Google Play: lifetime unlock, premium annual subscription, optional tip jar.

All payment data is handled by Apple Inc. (App Store / iTunes account) or Google LLC (Play Billing). Archivr does not ask for card details. It uses purchase and entitlement information returned by the store to unlock features, and saves entitlement status and expiry locally. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or in the Google Play app → Subscriptions; cancellation rules are governed by Apple / Google.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app, third-party SDKs, or applicable law change. The "Last updated" date will identify revisions, and we will provide additional notice where required. If a change requires your consent, we will request it separately.
