Upscalr — Privacy Policy
1. Overview

For the version of the app distributed via Google Play, the data controller is LICENCEPRO POLSKA Sp. z o.o., ul. Huculska 6, 00-730 Warszawa, Polska.
Upscalr is a mobile app for improving image quality, clarity, and resolution on iOS and Android. The app is designed around local processing: selected photos and images stay on your device during import, enhancement, saving, and sharing.
2. Photos and Image Content
Upscalr reads images that you explicitly select from your gallery or file picker. The image content is processed locally on the device. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or processes your photos.
- Photos are not uploaded by Upscalr for enhancement.
- Results are saved to your gallery only when you choose to save them.
- Sharing uses the system share sheet and is controlled by the destination you choose.
3. Local Storage
The app may store local settings such as onboarding completion and device processing benchmark data. This data remains on your device and can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing app data where supported by the platform.
4. Permissions
Upscalr requests photo library access so you can choose images and save improved results. Permission prompts are handled by iOS or Android. You can change these permissions in system settings at any time.
5. Crash Diagnostics
Upscalr can use Sentry for crash reporting when a build is configured with a Sentry DSN. Crash diagnostics may include app version, OS version, device model, stack traces, and navigation breadcrumbs. Screenshots, view hierarchy capture, and image content attachment are disabled in the app configuration.
6. Advertising
Upscalr displays advertising through Google AdMob. Ads are requested as non-personalized only (NPA): the app does not use ad data to track you across other apps and websites. The AdMob SDK may access a device advertising identifier to serve and measure these ads, and that identifier may be shared with Google for advertising purposes. We do not collect your name, email, or account data for advertising, and we do not link advertising data to your identity.
Ads may also be delivered through AdMob mediation by our additional advertising partners: Meta Audience Network (Meta Platforms, Inc., privacy policy) and Unity Ads (Unity Technologies, privacy policy). These partners serve ads under the same non-personalized conditions and may process the device advertising identifier and basic device and ad-performance metrics for ad delivery and measurement.
You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking / Apple Advertising; Android: Settings > Google > Ads). For more on how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
7. Legal Bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — local image processing, permissions, and app settings needed to provide Upscalr's features.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — crash diagnostics via Sentry to keep the app stable, and serving non-personalized ads that fund the free version.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — where the platform requires a permission or consent prompt (e.g. photo library access, iOS App Tracking Transparency). You can withdraw consent at any time in system settings.
8. Data Retention
- Local settings and benchmark data remain on your device until you delete app data or uninstall the app.
- Sentry crash reports are retained for 90 days (Sentry default), then deleted automatically.
- Advertising request data is processed by Google under its own retention policies; we do not store it.
9. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because Upscalr keeps your content on your device, most data can be removed directly by deleting app data or uninstalling the app. For anything else (e.g. crash data), contact mail@macsiem.dev.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.
10. Children
Upscalr is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app has no accounts, and ads are requested as non-personalized only.
11. International Transfers
Your photos never leave your device through Upscalr. Technical data processed by our service providers (Sentry for crash diagnostics, Google for ads) may be transferred outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable).
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at the canonical URL below, with the "Last updated" date at the top.
13. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or account credentials in the app.
- We do not upload photo or image content for processing.
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not use advertising data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell personal information.
